It’s about that time again, the second semester of college is coming up. The NSFAS is opening the second-semester funding application for those studying at Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) colleges on the 4th of July. Here is how to apply and make sure your second semester is set.

You can apply for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme at any college bursary office or better yet for convenience using the online application facility. For those without the proper tools for an online application, walk-in applications are the best choice for you, so go to any college bursary application and you are good to go.

Here is the list of items you need before you begin the application process

  • A copy of your birth certificate (preferably unabridged) or National ID certified recently.
  • A Copy of your parents/guardian’s ID (or death certificate if applicable) certified recently
  • You must be in possession of a Copy of your parents/guardian’s proof of income. All these documents must be certified recently.
  • A fully completed and signed Application form. Download the application form here.
  • A fully completed and signed Consent form.
  • Applicants who are orphans must submit a completed and signed Declaration Form.
  • Any applicant with disabilities must submit a completed and signed Annexure A form.

How to apply

  • Go to the NSFAS
  • Click myNSFAS button
  • Click the register link
  • Allow NSFAS to verify your details by ticking the box
  • Capture your ID number accurately
  • Enter your full names and surname correctly as stated on your ID
  • Enter your current in-use email address
  • Confirm the email address
  • Enter cellphone number
  • Create a password that you will recognize
  • Confirm password
  • Upload your ID Copy
  • Click register
  • An OTP will be sent to the email and cell number you provided earlier (OTP is valid for only 24 hours)
  • Enter in the OTP and click submit
  • You have now completed your re-registration
