Stellenbosch University has opened its applications for the 2023 intake. Local and international applicants are welcome to apply. The university is one of the leading institutions in academic excellency in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. It has ten faculties in which you can choose a programme to study. The main campus is located at the heart of the Western Cape winelands and is the home of the university’s eight campuses. The faculty of Military Sciences is at the South African Defense Force Military Academy in Saldanha, and the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences is at the Tygerberg campus, close to Tygerberg academic hospital.

Applications Opening and Due dates for 2023 for Stellenbosch University

  • 4 April to 31 July: Applications ​​​​open for undergraduate programmes and residence applications.
  • 15 June to 30 November: Applications open for financial assistance at Stellenbosch University.
  • 4 April to 26 January: Applications close for Diplomas in Public Accountability (School of Public Leadership​).

Please make sure you upload clear documents, preferably in pdf format. Here are the easy steps to follow when applying to Stellenbosch University.

  • You can select a programme by first checking out what you can study on or the university’s calendar. You can also book a career counselling session online or visit the campus.
  • Please understand all the requirements of the programmes you’d like to study and complete the online application. You can apply for three programmes.
  • You must submit your completed application by 31 July
  • You can track your application status by logging in to Applicant Portal
  • if you are offered a place to study, you will need to accept the offer and upload your signed offer to register as a Matie.

What is the application fee when applying to Stellenbosch University?

You pay an application fee of R100 if you are a South African. However, this fee does not apply to international applicants and applicants applying for  Business School (USB). The university shall not be refunded your application fee for whatever reason.
